Before & Aftercare Advice

With the increasing awareness of the dangers of sun-beds and sun-bathing, spray tans are now in high demand. So, follow the points below and you will be well on your way to having a �safe and sun-free� gorgeous sun-kissed look.

Before Your Tanning Session.

If you are having a spray tan for a special occasion I suggest you book your spray tan at least 48 hours before the big day, unless you have already undertaken a trial tan with me. This will allow your tan to settle, as sometimes you may have an orange tint which normally settles by the day after your tan. This also allows for minor issues to be remidied should anything occur.

At least 24 hours before your spray tan exfoliate all over your body, the better you exfoliate the better your spray tan will look. Take longer around your knee's elbows and ankles as dead skin can build up in these area's. There are many exfoliating products on the market for best results comine these with exfoliating gloves and or a body brush.

If you wish to shave or wax, please do this at least 24 hours before your spray tan appointment, this gives your pores chance to close otherwise you may have a spotty look to the areas you have waxed or shaved.

Apply oil free body lotion or moisturiser to the full body after exfoliating.

Do not apply makeup or deodorants or perfumes until you have had your spray tan, this will allow the tanning solution to penetrate your skin evenly leaving you with a fantastic looking tan..

Do not shower just before your spray tan as your skins PH level may be higher than normal and could effect your spray tan's final look.

Please apply clear nail varnish to fingernails and toenails to avoid staining of the nails.

On The Day Of Your Tanning Session

Make sure you don't use any creams deodorants, makeup or perfumes, until after you have had the spray tan applied.

When I arrive at your home I will need an area approx 5 feet square and near a power outlet.

You can decide how little or more clothes you wear during the spray tan. For male clients I request that you wear boxer shorts or shorts.

I provide sticky feet barrier cream and hair nets, you will need to wear dark underwear as disposables do not give natural tan lines.

If you have natural finger nails with no polish or if you have acrylics then I apply barrier cream, This will reduce the chances of staining.

Do not apply creams of any sort on the day of tan as using creams may result in no tan developing or a lighter tan than expected.

After Your Spray Tanning Session

Once you have had your spray tan applied, please leave at least four hours before taking a bath/shower. Rinse the bronzer off with plain water, pat dry and apply body lotion. Do not rub at the tan either when washing the bronzer off or drying as this will result in loss of tan in these areas. Wear dark loose clothing for the first 24 hours, this allows your skin to absorb the tanning solution without creating patches where clothing has rubbed such as jeans. If you find your bed linen has the tanning solution on don't worry this will simply wash out, but be aware that silk linen will stain. If you apply body lotion daily this will extend your spray tan and keep it looking it's best.

Do not exfoliate after your spray tan as this will reduce the look of your tan, also be aware of shower gels with scrubbing beads as these will also reduce your tan's look.

If wishing to shave after having a tan please be aware that you may remove the tan as you are taking off the top layer of skin.

Waxing after having a tan will result in patches of missing tan due to the wax on the strips.

Full body moisturise daily, use a natural non fruit acid or non oil based moisturiser this will extend your tan and leave your skin looking radiant throughout your tan.

My husband has vitiligo which is a condition affecting the pigmentation of the skin. The condition is noticeable with some areas of the skin having no pigmentation, so are completely white. His skin generally tans well in the sun but this condition does mean that these areas remain white which makes him feel very paranoid as they become very noticeable.
